Canon EF-S 17 - 55 mm F2.8 IS lens

Canon has today announced an interesting new constant aperture 'digital' (EF-S) lens. The new EF-S 17 - 55 mm F2.8 IS is designed specifically for the dimensions of a 'cropped sensor' (1.6x crop) and hence can be made smaller than a 35 mm equivelant lens. It features a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range which means it's a faster alternative to other EF-S lenses.

EOS 5D viewfinder dust problems

DPreview.com forums are attracting an increasing number of complaints on the EOS 5D's viewfinder dust. The dirt seems to crawl where you can't reach it (it is not on the focusing screen!), effectively giving owners a hard time. It is most probably a design flaw and now it's all eyes out on Canon's pending reaction / official statement.

Autostitch - let your computer create panoramas for you

If you're into panoramas, this software might be a fun thing to try out. The automated image stitcher uses snaps of different parts of a scene to automagically complete the big picture. Although it has been around for a while, Autostich keeps inspiring photographers all over the world and even has its own Flickr following - at this moment some 6400 images.
